Empowering God’s Children Consent
PURPOSE: As caring adults, we have the great responsibility of ensuring the safety of children and youth. The prevention of child sexual abuse requires more than adult awareness, education, and training about the nature and scope of the problem. We must also give children and youth the tools they need to help us keep them safe by educating them regarding boundaries, safe and unsafe behaviors and healthy relationships. Empowering God’s Children® is an age-appropriate, comprehensive program through which educators (teachers, catechists, and youth ministers) and parents can give children and youth the tools they need to protect themselves and know what to do if someone tries to violate their boundaries. Each year, the program provides a theme that introduces and builds on the basic concepts of the Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide.
PARENT DECISION: If you are comfortable with your student receiving the instruction alongside his/her peers during the scheduled class period, you do not need to take further action. If, however, you prefer one of the choices, please complete this form.
WHEN: Please complete the form by Friday, November 7th.
OPTIONS:
- Home Instruction: The school will provide a lesson plan and materials to each student’s parent/guardian so that you may address this content with your student at home. A signature form will also be requested to be returned to the school to confirm that the material was covered.
- Opt-Out: I am not comfortable with my student receiving this content either at school or at home.
